Do you feel connected to your body?
Are you tuned in to how your body is affected by what you eat or don’t eat?
Many people are jumping on the latest “fad diet” bandwagon in increasing numbers. Are you one of them?
Examples of “fad diets” include keto, paleo, raw food, liquid, blood type, low carb, low fat, alkaline, master cleanse, Atkins, Beverly Hills, Hollywood, South Beach, grapefruit, apple cider vinegar, cabbage soup, the Zone, the Dukan, negative calorie, and the list goes on…
It’s possible that certain fad diets will work for some people and not others, because of their body type or the proportion of elements in their innate constitution. However, most of the time these types of diets produce short-term results quickly, yet are ineffective long term. Ultimately, they can deprive you of essential nutrients which can cause serious imbalances in the body and be very dangerous to your health.
Start paying attention to what’s going on with your body and how you respond to certain foods, physically and also mentally. Learn to recognize the signs and signals your body may be providing you.
Your body is always trying to communicate, are you listening?
Since most fad diets usually last a few weeks or a few months, it’s easy to fall back into old habits once it’s over and gain back any weight that was lost. The key is to learn how to eat properly for your unique constitution and sync with nature for your ongoing health.
Choosing a variety of healthy foods, adopting balanced eating habits and engaging in regular physical activity will give you more energy and leave you feeling healthier in the long run.
Here are some easy tips to remember and follow:
- Make a food plan. If you try to decide what to eat when you are ravenous, quick choices usually get made which aren’t always the best choices.
- Protein is an essential nutrient that helps your body build new cells.
- Healthy, unsaturated fats help your body absorb nutrients.
- Carbohydrates are your body’s fuel.
- Avoid eating when you are not hungry.
- Keep portions moderate in size.
- Eat slowly and enjoy your food.
- Be active and move your body every day.
For long-lasting results, start by making small achievable changes each week, as this will help you to feel better about yourself. For example, this week I am cutting out potato chips and adding in a vegetable.
Connecting with your body and implementing a healthy diet and lifestyle is easier than you think.
