Are you able to listen to your inner wisdom, or is it being stifled and overshadowed by all the noise of ‘experts,’ fad diets, cravings, stimulants, stress and other distractions?

If you are ready to tune in to your body and get to know it better, you can begin by taking a holistic approach, living as the whole person that you are, where mind, body and spirit are a connected, collaborative system.

Here are 5 more practical tips and tools to get in touch with your body and live your best life. If you missed the previous blog and tips, please click HERE to read.

6. Get quiet, find stillness, meditate, listen.

Even if it’s only for five minutes. Being present in stillness in your own body is a powerful experience. It also means potentially working through your own resistance of just being without doing. This practice allows you to become more receptive to intuitive guidance and promptings.

7. Practice yoga

Yoga is a great way to develop body awareness and to notice in which areas any stress and tension is being held. Opt for gentler practices so you’re less focused on the “exercise” part of it and more focused on the mind, body, spirit connection that happens when you slow down. Allow yourself to deeply feel into any sensations.
Certain poses like child’s pose, tree pose, and warrior poses can help you feel more grounded and connected.

8. Get a massage

Physical touch is important and can help you connect more deeply to your body. A good therapist will help you to identify and address any compensation patterns in your body, as well as any issues in your tissues. Massage also helps you to relax any tension and stress, stay flexible and at ease in your body.

9. Release the inner critic and learn to accept and love yourself as is.

Be mindful of your inner dialogue and be kind to yourself. Smile at yourself in the mirror. Support yourself with loving thoughts. Send love and praise particularly to those areas of your body that you dislike, without judgment.

10. Keep a food and emotions journal.

Become more aware of your relationship with food and how certain foods make you feel. After eating, do you feel energized, lethargic, bloated, foggy headed, heated, happy, guilty, achy, etc.? Learn to view food beyond weight.

Remember that your body is your ally. It knows what it needs to be healthy and not only that, it also knows how to guide your life choices, helping you make the best decisions to maintain a healthy balance within and without.
