The Fight or Flight response is an automatic physiological reaction to an event perceived as Stressful or frightening. The perception of threat activates the sympathetic nervous system and triggers an acute Stress response that prepares the Body to fight or flee.

Stress is the way we respond to what is happening in our lives. Whether it’s a physical or an Emotional charge, Stressful events can trigger activity in our nervous system that floods the Body with hormones, known as the “Fight-or-Flight” response. Over time, this creates inflammation in the cells. This, in turn, causes inflammation elsewhere, and the pain sets in the physical Body, causing severe physical and mental health problems. 😤

Prolonged Stress can turn into a feeling of tightness in the chest, high blood pressure, panic attacks, and over long periods, if not addressed, it can result in a heart attack.

Stress is serious to our Health!

The Body constantly responds to how we Think, Feel, and act. Responding is one type of Mind-Body connection. When Stressed, our Bodies react in a way that tells us something isn’t right.

Often, however, it’s not the traffic delays, past due bills, or the argument with a loved one that causes Stress. Our Thoughts around a situation or circumstance create Emotional upset paired with shallow breathing, muscle tension, increased heart rate, a surge in adrenalin, and many other Stress response symptoms.

One of the best ways of healing ourselves is to begin gaining awareness around our Stress and how it physiologically affects us. People handle Stress differently, and symptoms of Stress can vary.

We can begin the journey to true holistic health by being open to our Body’s messages and paying attention to the signals it is consistently sending.

It’s always speaking; however, many are simply not listening.
