What are your favorite tastes and how do they affect you?

As weve seen over the course of this 6 part series, each taste: sweet, sour, salty, pungent, bitter and astringent, used individually or collectively in the appropriate amount can bring us into balance and good health.

If used improperly or in excess, however, it can cause imbalances and harm our wellbeing. Even our emotional nature can be affected by the food and tastes we eat.

Do you tend to have a “sweetdisposition or are you more on the “spicyside?

Do you get easily resentful and “bitter” when things don’t go your way or maybe you become a moody “sourpuss?”

When the qualities of certain foods and tastes are similar to the qualities of our own constitution, this can tend to aggravate and lead to imbalances in our system, however, opposite qualities tend to be balancing.

It’s important, therefore, for us to learn more about the different characteristics and familiarize ourselves with the effects of each of the 6 tastes. Then we can be sure to include them in our daily meals and use them properly in our cooking.

Which of the 6 tastes do you get the least of in your overall diet? What foods can you now incorporate in your cooking that you didn’t eat before?

Every aspect of our life contributes to our overall health. For many of us, we find that diet and nutrition is the best place to start in making positive changes. We encourage you to experiment and try something new today. Make it fun! You have nothing to loose and so much to gain from it.

Don’t feel that you have to change everything all at once. Slow and steady is the best road to successful change. No need to get “salty” or disappointed if you don’t always see immediate results. Patience is key and it may take a little time to bring your system back into balance.

In conclusion, being more mindful of the 6 tastes and how they affect us on so many different levels can really benefit us greatly. We encourage you to balance the different tastes in your diet so that you can experience optimum health and nutrition and enjoy life to the fullest.
