Tune into your body. Do you notice that we constantly change and adapt to live in harmony with nature and the changing seasons? Whether conscious of this or not, the body tries to synch up with our environment for our internal health.
What do you notice as we shift from Spring to Summer?
The transitional period between each season is a significant time to support the health of your Mind and Body. Most diseases are born during the changing of the seasons where the different elements (ether or space, air, fire, water, earth) show up in different proportions like rain, wind, and heat. We each have our unique internal landscape, and whatever the element outside amplifies our dominant element on the inside.
Take a few minutes to check-in and see what your mental, emotional, and physical health may need.
- Is your Mind clear?
- Are you strong yet agile?
- Do you feel Sad or Tired?
- Are you easily irritable?
The above are good questions to ask to see what our body may need more or less heading into Summer.
Does your Mind feel Cloudy? Try cleaning up your diet, and add in some local Spring vegetables. In the Spring, we naturally harvest spicy greens like arugula and dandelion greens that cut through the mucus that builds in Winter.
When our mucous is lowered, we feel lighter, lifting our mood.
If you feel irritable, check in with the irritability. Is it for a good reason, or are you already heading into Summer loaded with heat in your body? Heat and inflammation can cause irritability amongst a lot of other uncomfortable disorders.
The northern hemisphere is getting warmer, and the rain is dying down. We are beginning to harvest seasonal fruits, vegetables, and herbs. The sweet taste of fruits is cooling by nature as we start to integrate locally harvested foods.
Notice if your stress levels or a little temper have taken an upswing from the heat.
What can you do to cool down internally? (Maybe lay off the hot sauce a bit for now?)
Get curious about the similarities between nature and our inner beings, embrace the changes, and ease into the heat of the Summer season!
